HISTORY

Hills Farm has been an operating family farm since the 1800’s. The farm operated as a dairy farm until 1997, at which time the family discontinued selling milk to Agrimark, but continued to raise cows, horses and other livestock on the farm. Currently, the farm consists of several horses, dairy and beef cows. The farm is family owned and operated.

MISSION

The Hills family is committed to offering affordable quality care for horses, a safe environment for livestock and people, and to maintaining the rural and agricultural character of Middletown’s Maromas District, all while adhering to generally accepted agricultural practices. We feel that in doing so, we are preserving a rare commodity that greatly enhances our community.

SERVICES

Hills Farm offers quality care at a reasonable cost for horse boarding. Boarders have access to endless trails as the farm abuts the Cockaponsett State Forest. Other amenities include a 100×200 outdoor ring, 80×200 indoor arena, personal tack lockers, quality care & feed, grass pasture with all day turn out in one of two herds. We also make our own hay.

ANIMALS AND LIVESTOCK

The Hills family has been raising and caring for horses, cows and other livestock for several years. They currently own several horses, dairy & beef cows. In addition, they also breed and raise quality English Labrador Retrievers. Over the years, they have placed dogs with families all over New England and the Tri-State region.

ACTIVITIES

The Hills family is actively involved in local 4H groups and supports Vo-Ag programs. They are also active in team-penning & team-sorting events, local parades, trail riding and showing cows & horses in local fairs.

MISCELLANEOUS

Hills Farm occasionally has stalls available for rent, horses available for long-term on-farm lease, horses for sale, hay for sale and group tours. We will occasionally rent our facilities for schooling shows, educational clinics & seminars. Arena time may also be available for rent for winter or evening riding.
